The 2016 Great Salt Lake Fencing Open: June 9 - 11

The Great Salt Lake City Fencing Open is for everyone. If you are a fencer, then you can test your skills in foil, epee and saber events that fit you ability and age and, perhaps, prove that you are the best all-around fencer by competing in the 2016 FenceAthlon.

If you are a non-fencer, you can observe a few hours of competitive fencing for free or sign up for a mini-fencing lesson where you can take on an opponent with weapon in hand.

Fencers: Great Salt Lake Fencing Open Bigger, Better and More Challenging

Like the past three Great Salt Lake Fencing Opens, the 2016 tournament is expected to draw fencers from throughout North America. Events include Y12, D & Under, Mixed Open and Women's Open in Foil, Epee and Saber along with events for Veteran fencers.

All events will be held at the Promontory buidiing on the Utah State Fair Grounds in Salt Lake City, which is just minutes via public transportation from the Salt Lake International Airport and dozens of hotels and restaurants.

2016 FenceAthlon to Determine Best 3-weapon Fencer - $1,000 for Winner

Who is the best all-around fencer? The Great Salt Lake Fencing Open’s FenceAthlon will attempt to answer that question as it challenges competitors to show their skill in all three weapons.

All fencers who enter all 3 open events (foil, epee and saber) on Saturday, June 10, are automatically entered into the FenceAthlon event. Points will be awarded to fencers in each event based on their finish.  The top 8 point holders will then face-off in a direct elimination table where each athlete will fence each weapon within a relay style match.
